2014 Honda CB650F Naked Streetfighter For Europe

Europe and US are two different markets and so are their needs. And that is why they differ in the available models too. Honda has launched a new middleweight motorcycle for the European market that looks extremely promising both in terms of looks and performance.

Dubbed the Honda CB650F, the naked streetfighter motorcycle is powered by an all-new 649 cc, inline four cylinder engine - company’s third new engine in three years. The key features of Honda’s new powerplant include 30 degree forward inclined cylinders, 16-valve DOHC cylinder head with direct cam actuation, PGM-FI fuel injection (working with 32mm throttle units), and connecting rods optimised in length to minimize side forces on pistons. Pumping losses are said to be low because of an array of breathing holes in the crankcase walls between the journals.

As per Honda, the components of the new engine have been designed to deliver good torque below 4,000 rpm and great mid-range throttle response. The 649 cc unit puts out a decent 86 horsepower at 11,000 rpm and 46 foot-pounds of torque at 8,000 rpm. Another fact that makes this very engine really special aesthetically is that Honda has used a water cooling channeling from the head to the cylinder which reduces the number of hoses, making it appear a lot more clean.

The CB650F’s chassis is a twin spar arrangement while the suspension system comprises of a 41mm Showa fork out front and a monoshock at the rear. A conventional aluminium swingarm has been used at the rear. The braking system makes use of twin 320 mm discs up front and a single 240 mm disc out back, complemented by a standard ABS system. The motorcycle weighs 454 pounds, has a rake of 25.5 degrees and 3.98 inches of trail.

This is indeed a great looking machine with plenty of appeal to blow you away. Will it come to US? Well, as of now, NO. But for sure, if Honda considers to inject the bike in US, that will be a great news.
