2014 Honda CBR300R Unveiled: Photos and Specifications

This year Kawasaki brought a major change to the entry level motorcycle segment with the introduction of Ninja 300R. Instead of positioning the Ninja 300R just above the entry level models, Kawasaki decided to replace the Ninja 250R with the new model. Now, Honda, the equally popular manufacturer, has been following Kawasaki closely, at least for the entry level segment, and announced the CBR300R a while back.

The CBR300R is essentially a CBR250R with increased displacement and improved styling. The earlier 249 cc of displacement has now been increased by 37 cc to 286 cc – a decent increase for better acceleration performance crucial for city riding. The displacement change have been brought by an 8mm longer stroke and a weightier counter-balancer with rest remaining unchanged. Like the previous version, this engine is liquid cooled and features fuel injection.

Other than the increased power, the most important change brought is the styling which is on the lines of the new CBR1000RR. The headlamp cluster now features a twin set and the rest of the bodywork too is influenced by the top-of-the-family CBR1000RR. The braking system of the new CBR is already effective but making it better this year is the introduction of ABS coming as standard.

As far as the US launch is concerned, there is no official word from Honda as of now but it is expected to hit the dealerships next spring. Pricing is expected to be upward of $4,500.
