McLaren P1 Hybrid Supercar Sold Out

For long McLaren has been promoting its latest hybrid supercar, the McLaren P1. And recently, at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the manufacturer officially unveiled the production version of the car. Interestingly, as per what Top Gear reports, all that promotion has paid off.

Top Gear says shortly after its release, all 375 P1s are "accounted for,", which means that all the 375 units have been bought. McLaren’s target was to sell all the P1s by September, the month marking the manufacturer’s 50th anniversary, with demand slowly building up over the summer.

"We set ourselves the target to be sold out by year-end off the back of first cars being delivered to customers in September, the fiftieth anniversary of McLaren's founding," a company spokesman said. "Demand for the car has been consistently strong since Geneva. A combination of the first feedback from customers and Top Gear's review of the P1 has seen us cross the line a little sooner than we had planned..."

Despite all the P1s sold out, there is a waiting list open for customers in case buyers opt for cancelling their orders. As of now, 12 P1 cars have been built, which are either already with their owners or about to be delivered.

This is indeed a sad news for potential buyers who were eagerly awaiting the $1.15 million car and now the only options left in the hybrid supercar category are the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder.
