Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Final Edition Teased – The End Of SLS

With so many car models to remember, we hardly bother if one or even more of them get discontinued. Reason being such cars are either outdated or not as exciting as others are. But it really hurts when a good car becomes history and so is the case with the one of the most popular and exciting Mercedes-Benz products, the SLS AMG.

A while back we reported that Mercedes-Benz is going to stop manufacturing the SLS AMG in 2014. And before the SLS AMG flies into the history books, it certainly deserves a special treatment. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that it will debut the SLS AMG Final Edition at the 2013 Los Angeles Motor Show next week.

Interestingly, Mercedes-AMG has posted two teaser images of the yet to be unveiled SLS AMG Final Edition on their official Facebook fan page, providing a sneak peak at the last edition of one of the most exciting sports cars ever. Though not much have been disclosed, the Final Edition will feature a new front bumper, bonnet, grille, a revised interior and special edition ornaments.

Going by the images what we conclude is that the car will feature blackened alloy wheels and a carbon-fibre lower front splitter at least. The powertrain is expected to remain the same 6.2-litre V8 with a rated output of 583 horsepower and 650 Nm, and 620 horsepower and 635 Nm in the top-of-the-line Black Series.

For fans who are utterly disappointed by the fact that SLS AMG is to bid adieu, Mercedes-Benz is working on a smaller, lighter, faster and cheaper sports car dubbed GT AMG as a near-replacement for the SLS. The GT AMG is expected to go on sale in late 2014 or early 2015 and will be powered by a 4.0 litre V8 twin turbo engine.

Stay tuned for more updates on the SLS AMG Final Edition.
