Nissan GT-R Nismo Leaks Ahead Of Tokyo Debut: Packs 595 BHP

Nissan has plans of unveiling the latest GT-R Nismo at the Tokyo Motor Show tomorrow, but little did they know the supposed official images of the car have leaked just ahead of the world premiere. So what is so exciting about the new Nismo-tuned GT-R, let us find all that out.

First up it is the power house. The Nismo GT-R is powered by an updated twin-turbocharged V6 3.8 litre engine which now produces 595 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, a significant increase of 50 horsepower and 23 Nm over the previous version. Such an increase was made possible by revising the intake and exhaust systems, as well as a GT-R spec bigger turbocharger and modified ignition timing. Interestingly the engine is capable of producing even more power but then it could damage the gearbox and therefore Nissan opted to cap it at 595 horses.

The new GT-R Nismo rolls on a set of 20 inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/40RF-20 run-flat Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 DSST tyres. The new set of tyres will provide better grip on road as well as track. For performance lovers, Nissan will also offer an optional track package which includes several carbon fibre body parts, a front splitter and a massive rear spoiler. All the carbon fibre parts together account for a 64.8 kg reduction in the vehicle’s curb weight. The optional track package also covers manually adjustable Ohlins shocks, chassis tweaks and much more.

The pricing of the car is yet to be announced but as per Nissan, the GT-R Nismo with the optional track package will cost less than $200,000 or 148,000 euros/ 128,000 GBP. Reports also say that the standard GT-R Nismo will start at around £135,000.

Now all we have to do is wait until tomorrow when Nissan will officially take the wraps off its latest GT-R Nismo.
