2015 Erik Buell Racing 1190SX Makes Official Debut [Photos]

At the 2014 AIMExpo held in Orlando, Erik Buell Racing a.k.a EBR unveiled their 2014 1190RX superbike. Besides being the latest iteration of the 1190RX, what’s really special about the motorcycle is the machine it is based on, which is the EBR RS. Ever since the 2014 EBR 1190RX was unveiled, there were enough rumours and speculations about a naked version of the motorcycle and, for those EBR fans, the same is finally official.

Today, Erik Buell Racing has unveiled their latest product in the form of the 2015 Erik Buell Racing 1190SX. Making its debut at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, this streetfighter category motorcycle comes in bare essentials - unlike the 1190RX which flaunts a fully faired body, the 1190SX is all about a rugged, unadulterated look.

Expectedly, the 1190SX share a good number of mechanical components with 1190RX but the engine is supposed to be a detuned version of what powers the 1190RX, to differentiate it well from the latter in terms of performance. Apart from the engine, there will be a handful of other mechanical modifications to make it more city-roads friendly.

Although EBR has not disclosed the specs, in all probability the 1190SX will draw power from 1190RX’s 1190 cc V-twin engine that puts out 185 hp and peak torque of 138 Nm. However, as mentioned above, expect the engine to be detuned to deliver more power in the mid-rev range.

Additionally, there will be a magnesium sub-frame, traction control, a TFT instrument cluster, 386 mm brake system from ZTL and more. As far as the design is concerned, aside from the chiseled, naked body, there is a new design for the all LED headlights, a more comfortable seat and regular handlebars for an upright position.

More details will emerge on July 4, so stay tuned.
